I'll start with a quick catch up on the end of yesterday after picking Thomas up from school and Philip from work, Thomas and I where dropped into George Town to go to the National Museum. Thomas insisted that he take me round as he had been there a number of times and knew what to show me. Before we got there we past Heros Square with its sculptures one of which represents the traditional Caymanian Cat Boat.

The CatBoats where made from local mahogany but they are now no longer in use and the only ones I have seen have been derelicts which are used for decoration. The National Museum is in the old court house which has variously been a gaol dance hall and public house small but very informative and Thomas loves it. On our way back to the car park I saw this gate and thought of my son Richard, ideas for his new home?!?!?!
Today we went to the one of the oldest structures on grand Cayman and the only stone built building on the islands. St James' House also know as Pedro St James or Pedro Castle {pronounced Peedro}.
Built in the late 1700's it was variously a private residence a court house a gaol restaurant and hotel. It was also the location for the establishment of democracy in the Cayman Islands and was used as the place for the assembly of representatives before a dedicated building was built in the capital.

The afternoon was spent chilling then after getting Thomas from school a couple of hours in the pool perfecting my duck diving for more snorkeling.
