29th April {C2K week six day5}

Right I promised you a long journey for the 29th how about 4807 miles!! 

Unfortunately none of it on a bicycle.

I arrived in Grand Cayman just after a massive rain storm to find the airport covered in puddles and the air very muggy. My nephew and his family were there to greet me, now for a long rest.

Cycle to Kolkata Week six day four

Well to day a shortish ride today 5.07miles out to the creek along to Iron Wharf and Standard Quay then Davington, Stonbridge pond and home via the Station and the Park

Cycle to Kolkata week six day 1

A bit misty and murky today wasn't sure where to go so started with my standard five and a half mile loop via Sandbanks Lane, Graveney and back along the creek the only thing of interest was a brief glimpse of what I thought was a sparrowhawk harrying some smaller birds near the sewage works when I got there no sign of the hawk but hundreds of Swallows hunting the area. 'One swallow does not a summer make' but hundreds means we are getting close.

I decided to go up to Oare Nature Reserve and was treated to a nice view of a Reed Warbler sing on to of the reeds sorry no photo. But some general shots of the area as I said it was a bit grey today

The building on the left was used as the forge  in the BBC's recent adption of Great Expectations

 The whole area used to be part of the Explosives factories and it was here that the worst accident to befall the British explosives industry too place on April 2nd 1916  

Dans Dock you can still see the 'Barge Blocks' that kept the sail barges off the mud at low tide

So this mornings ride was 13.65 miles and this afternoon I went to a meeting in town and added another 2.27 miles

Cycle to Kolkata week Five day seven

Longer ride today 17.34 miles may be the longest I've done in a few years cant tell you how long it took as I stopped on route to take some photos and did some shopping as well.

Over Easter a friend of mine and a fellow blogger visited a village near me and promised some shots from inside the church, they have not yet materialised so I thought I'd post some of my own.

Cycle to Kolkata week 5 day Five

So having had a puncture on my way home yesterday I didn't get much time to cycle today two short runs one to the town centre 1.96 miles the other to a Khushi Feet meeting 3.07.

No photos from today but here are some photos of the school we are helping in Kolkata.

C2K week 5 day four

A gentle ride today covering 8.54 miles including two stops at sites of historic interest in the area.

Church of St Bartolemew Goodnestone , now redundant but cared for by the  Churches Conservation Trust

Leaving Goodenstone I cycled back to town along the Creek then into Abbey street up to Davington narrowly missing the Paperatzie laying siege to the parish church, then down to Chart Mill one of the many Mills that originally bought fame and fortune to the town of Faversham.

C2K week 5 day 1

Having spent most of this week helping friends with cars in the garage or those moving house and of course family visits I've not got out much this week so this morning I did a simple loop out to Graveney and Sandbanks but realise that I am still suffering from the effects of the flu and found it quite tiring. This mornings ride was 5.62 miles

C2K week four day 4

Having been knocked sideways by a flu bug I am now two weeks behind on my target!!
But at least today I have managed to put some miles in. I did manage to do two miles on Friday last week but paid for it on Saturday by being totally exhausted. Today's route took me out almost to Hollowshore, no point going to the Shipwrights as it would be closed mid afternoon, one of these days I will find this atmospheric pub open. Still nice view of the newly rigged sailing barges Cambria & Repetor.

Quality is poor as I only had my phone with me.
