Inside another Cathedral

So yesterday I was walking round the town I grew up in and decided to visit the best Cathedral in England to see the art works that were on display there.

I'm sorry about the quality these photos they were shot on my phone and installations 7 and 9 were either in areas were photography is not allowed or I didn't find them

The Halls built on the site of the old Blackfriars 

One of the shopping arcades is especially interesting The Royal Arcade an Art Nouveau building opened on May 24th 1899 by architect George Skipper though the floor looks influenced by Charles Rennie Mackintosh

The freezes above the shops are interesting as well

Wondering around I found a very interesting installation by artist Marco Barotti which was part of the NN festival

 There were postcards around explaining the project

If you can read the text it says :

THE WOODPECKER 

The project creates an audiovisual intervention in urban and natural environments through 

the application of custom-made android birds that behave as musical instruments. They play the various frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum and reinterpret these waves with a motion pattern similar to that of the woodpecker. The birds transform the Invisible radiations used for mobile communication and wireless technology into audible and visible acoustic drumming patterns. The sonic result is a generative acoustic composition which undergoes constant transformation. A soundscape which resonates as an invading drum ensemble in the urban environment 

Some people felt that it was annoying but I found it very interesting

Sadly some people decided to touch the birds and knocked them off thier perches breaking them, whilst I was there 9 became 6.

Norwich Part 2 Around the City

Technically the first few photographs could be included in yesterdays post as the fall inside the Cathedral Quarter of the city.

From the water-gate I walked along the riverside walk 

The Cathedral from the Cow Tower

Further round the walk I came across The Jarrold Bridge this amazing 'floating bridge' takes the riverside walk and cycleway across the river

Then this more historic one 

 And some of the rivers usual residents

One of the oldest areas of Norwich is Elm Hill here are some photos of this quaint medieval street
