IOW 5

Sandown today we had intended to visit Sandown Zoo then spend some time on the beach with James. Unfortunately we were a little later leaving so spent all afternoon in the zoo and had fish and chips on the prom for dinner. 
Not many words today lots of animals.

Sandown Zoo is built inside an old Napolionic Fort which in World War II was used for the PLUTO {pipe line under the ocean} 11 pumps in the fort and three on the adjoining golf course supplied 330,000 gallons of petrol a day to the ailed troops after the Normandy Day landings. 
A fully restored pump is to be found in one of the gun emplacements.

After the zoo closed we did introduce James to the wonders of a sandy beach after he had tided up following dinner.
