Now we depart

On Monday morning at 9:30 we left Kolping and with Judes able driving skills headed for Entebbe Airport. Traffic in Kampala was not as heavy as we had expected so we had a twenty minute break at a cafe on the shores of Lake Victoria there was a strong wind from the east so the lake looked quite rough.

From Entebbe we fly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, Kenya. Sadley we had an eight hour lay-over here.

We landed back at Heathrow at 6:20 in the morning on 18th August

And finally Goodbye Uganda

Before we leave a little more about Sunday,
Though I had bought some bits from FACT and the lovely lady who runs a craft shop in Kolping Hotel it was decided,  with Sally off visiting friends and David having to meet some folk, that Michelle and I would take a look at the craft villages and see if there was any thing else we wanted.
One of the appointments David had was with a young lady called Shiber and he suggested that, if she was willing we should take her with us not only to show us where to go but also as a Luganda speaker she may be useful in taming the excesses of the markets!

Michelle wanted some fabric and something for here brother I was looking for only one thing a new bag for my friend Dave's Djembe. We had great fun looking at all the different stalls most selling the same thing. One thing I did at most shops was tap every drum on sale and mostly walk away, they in the main are not instruments but decorations the stall holders looked at me rather oddly, then every so offten I would find one that was in tune and i would pick it up and play it. The stall holders looked aghast, 'A Mzungu who can play the drums!' But none of them had a bag for a decent sized Djembe. I also had a little argument with a car door!

Later that evening we, still minus Sally, plus Diana and Shiber went to the Ndere Centre to watch an evening of East African Dance.

16th August
Chill time at Kolping and Michelle and I went for a trip round the craft villages.

Good bye Atiriri and back to Kampala

14th August
David, Sally, Jude, and Diana had a meeting with Moses and Francis so whilst Michelle rested under the mango tree with a good book Michael and I cut the remaining timber for a second bookcase. We managed to get every thing ready and fit the brackets to the side pieces so all that needs to be done now if fitt the top and shelves and sort out the back. Dinner in The Landmark Hotel gave an oportunity to get a photo of Jude.

15th August
Sadly we left Soroti today and travelled back to Kampala. Following are some photos of the way goods and people are carried in Uganda
