Ok so the last day was actually Tuesday but I haven't managed to get this done before now! So Sammy wanted to get some plants for their newly refurbished garden so Steve Chris and I went with her to the garden centre at Beetham. After a successful shopping expedition, {can anyone tell me why they have Christmas decorations for sale in October} we had lunch in The Weatsheaf Hotel in Bettham then took a rather squelchy walk in Beetham Deer Park.
As we crested the hill on the walk up from Heron Mill we had our first glimpse of the deer

We managed to get quite close bearing in mind these are wild deer.
We climbed to the highest part of the park where there is an earthwork which may have been the location of the original Peel Tower later replaced by Dallam Tower House.
With views across the Kent estruay to the Coniston Fells (above) and Milnthorpe and its folly (below)
Retracing our steps we past a cairn in the middle of the field

then the first herd we had seen and we made for the road so we could get back to Beetham without getting too muddy.
