Two days in one

So on Thursday Chris had to go into work so Steve and I went off to visit Park End Moss a site we found when we visited in March. 
There wasn't as much bird life around as in March but as we walked through the woods to get to the bird hide we saw five buzzard circling in the sky and great tits, blue tits, a coal tit, and a gold crest in the woodland.
The view across the moss was great in the the sunshine.

Out on the water we saw Coot, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Malard, Gadwall, Teal, and five Little Grebe. Sadly the flocks of Curlew we had seen in the spring were absent as were the Kingfisher and  Marsh Harrier that had been spotted by people last week!

Friday dawned bright and dry and with no one having to go to work five of us set out for a walk on Holme Park Fell an area of Limestone Pavement south east of Kendal.

This being October I have to include some photos of fungi!!

Today we were lucky enough to see Buzzard, Blackbird, Stone Chat, Kestrel, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Raven, Yaffle and Tree Sparrow.

Back to the Lakes

So its October and I am again visiting my friends in Cumbria!
In more typical Cumbrian style than my previous visits the day started grey and damp. So that we would be able to get under cover if the rain set in we decided to visit Levens Hall. Photographs are not allowed in the house but the rain held off for some of the time so here are some photos from around the garden.
